Prachi Desai

BIOGRAPHY

Prachi Desai(born 12 September 1988) is an Indian film actress and former television actress. She is best known for her role as Bani Walia in the Hindi television drama Kasamh Se (2006) which aired on Zee TV. She made her Bollywood debut in the 2008 film Rock On!!. Her other notable features include Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), Bol Bachchan (2012) andI, Me Aur Main (2013). She is also the endorser, spokesperson, brand ambassador and the face of Goa Tourism and Neutrogena products in India. Desai is also a brand ambassador of Lux Lyra. Prachi was born in Surat, Gujarat. She studied in St Joseph Convent, Panchgani and completed her schooling till ninth grade in Surat.

CAREER

Prachistarted her television career as lead protagonist in the successful TV drama Kasamh Se on Zee TV. In 2006, Desai got selected to play the lead role in Ekta Kapoor's television drama Kasam Se. She was cast as Bani, opposite TV actor Ram Kapoor. The show won her several awards including the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role. Desai then made a transition to the film industry in 2008. Her first film was Rock On!! (2008), directed by Abhishek Kapoor, where she played the wife of Farhan Akhtar. Desai had to leave Kasamh Se to act in Rock On.

The actress began her journey of acting with the small screen and earned much recognition and accolade for her spectacular skills. Prachi became a household name when she appeared in Ekta Kapoor’s TV show Kasamh Se opposite Ram Kapoor. The actress won many hearts and her chemistry with Ram Kapoor earned them much love by the viewers. When other actresses were reluctant to work with older actors, Prachi Desai expressed the desire to experiment with her roles.
